Whatever happened to baby Teeky???

PHOTO OF MY SISTER AND I.

MY SISTER IS ON THE LEFT AND I AM ON THE RIGHT

At 45 years of age, I can still freshly recall the days of my youth when things were simple, Marvin Gaye was playing in the background and I could hear all of the neighborhood kids on my block outside playing. I can still even smell the smells of childhood sweat after a long day of play. I used to think "I can't wait until I am grown." I longed for freedom, independence, doing it my way and didn't have a clue of the responsibilities that went along with this.

I remember my mother calling us in the house to eat, take our baths or clean up the house. I remember the smell of pine when she would mop the floors and the smell of the basement when we had to take the laundry off of the basement clothesline. Those days were so long ago, but just YESTERDAY. Where did they go

How did time eat away at so many years and so fast? How is it that in just a blink of an eye, I have 2 daughters? It was too fast and I wish it would stop. I wish I could take a day, an hour, or a moment to go back in time and embrace the child in Teeky again. I wish I would not have longed to be grown so much and better embraced my youth, I wish I could once again watch my mother (without her knowing) move her hips to Marvin Gaye's Mercy, Mercy, Me.

Whatever happened to baby Teeky? Well, she really is grown now. She really does have responsibility now and while her mothers hips don't quite move the same, I am thankful that she is still alive and can move at all

Teeky is now a woman, a mother, a friend, and most of all a Child of God. Teeky has been blessed beyond her wildest imagination. She has been carried and protected and Teeky thanks God that she has lived to be grown and now watching her daughters grow.

Teeky still longs for the days of long ago, but Teeky now lives her life for her future and appreciates even better those days of long ago. I thank God he's carried me all the way.
